The only album to be completed by the Seattle-based supergroup Mad Season, Above has achieved mythic status among hard rock aficionados. This expanded double 12" vinyl edition includes the original album in its entirety as well as three songs from the band's unfinished second album with newly recorded vocals by Mark Lanegan, a previously unreleased instrumental "Interlude," and a remixed version of Mad Season's cover of John Lennon's "I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier"

Besides being the lead singer of progressive metal band Dream Theater, James LaBrie also celebrated a successful career as a solo artist. In total, he released five solo albums, including the 2013 album Impermanent Resonance. The album carries on the melodic death metal style first featured on the album Static Impulse, and once again features screaming vocals by drummer Peter Wildoer.

Musical collaborators include Stephen Stills and David Crosby. Volunteers is a crucial Jefferson record that ranks among the top albums of this seminal San Francisco psychedelic rock group.
